Medicate With Love

Practicing love and compassion stabilizes the heart and balances brain functioning. Try this experiment next time you feel low. Think of a person you feel neutrally about. Send them a thought of compassion. Then think of someone closer to you and send them peace. Keep going through various people in your life, sending the feelings of empathy, generosity, and gratitude. End with the closest person to you and surround them in love. Notice how you feel. Then simply sit with the feeling of love in your heart and notice if an inner bubbling of joy arises. Stripped of the ego’s occlusions, the soul radiates its essential nature, which is joy. Love lights the joy spark again within us.

Love Meditation

Breathe slowly and allow yourself to settle into a quiet place. Notice the contents of your mind and heart. Focus your attention at your heart center and breathe in love. Feel yourself sitting inside love itself, no separation. If pain is present, just allow it to be there but visualize love getting more and more intense around you and within you. Breathe love in. Breathe love out. Feel your connection to love becoming bigger and bigger, transforming any element of pain or insecurity.
